In 2023 we commissioned Chargetech, a Perth Based EV company who are committed to promoting a green and sustainable future, to install the stylish and award winning Smappee EV One intelligent chargers in 3 chalets and an additional Wall Lite at The Lodge. We are proud to say these were the first of these models installed in Western Australia. To manage charging, the CHARGEFOX network platform has been implemented to make charging simple on one of the biggest networks in Australia.
A Beautiful Location
The southwest region of Western Australia in which Forest Rise is located is one of the most beautiful places in the world and we are passionate about keeping it this way. We are not just talking about the philosophy of sustainability; we have made real changes to the operation of the retreat to significantly reduce our impact on the environment. In particular, emphasis is placed on water resources, power consumption, waste reduction and recycling. By operating a limited number of guest chalets, we have made a conscious choice to reduce the consumption of resources while further enhancing the feeling of privacy and seclusion for which Forest Rise is renowned. The 240-acre property has been part of the “Land for Wildlife” program for over 20 years and is now a unique sanctuary for many local flora and fauna.

Energy
Forest Rise has entered into a Carbon offset agreement with our power supplier. We purchase offset electricity at a higher unit cost with the commitment of carbon offset programs attached to our consumption in the attempt to reduce our carbon footprint.
Solar energy is harvested and utilised in our operational area helping to power our office, laundry, maintenance, and resident managers accommodation.
Water
The retreat’s water supply is provided from perennial limestone filtered aquifer located on the retreat at the head of the lakes spring; in conjunction with the collection of rainwater for The Lodge, our water is sourced locally.
Our water is in turn filtered again through our water treatment plant utilising UV and sand filtration to ensure quality.
Waste and Recycling
Firstly, we endeavor to reduce the amount of waste arriving to Forest Rise by giving preference to suppliers that do not use excessive packaging for their produce. All cardboard and paper waste along with glass and recyclables are collected and separated for offsite collection and processing. Unfortunately, plant based organic waste is not currently being composted on-site and does end up in landfill along with non-recyclables. We also aim to have a paperless office and look to reduce non-necessary consumption wherever possible.
Future Plans
Our aim is to consume as little as possible in the operation of Forest Rise, while still providing an exceptional experience for our guests. We are in the process of designing an solar system that will increase our energy generation and storage and are planning to install this system prior to 2030, This upgraded system will reduce our carbon consumption. We are also planning to initiate a composting system to further reduce landfill waste and converting all petrol fueled vehicles and garden tools to battery powered alternatives.
We are continually striving to provide a comfortable experience in a more sustainable manner that will truly benefit the environment and this spectacular location. We look forward to welcoming you to and sharing with you the natural beauty of Forest Rise and our philosophy of sustainability.
