The Margaret River wine region is one of the most well-known areas in Western Australia for wine production. It has a history of over 100 years, and many wineries are still operational today. With this rich history comes an abundance of different types of wines that can be produced by these wineries, making it easy to find something you will love!

1. Cape Grace Wines

Visitors can enjoy wine tastings every day from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. A visit to the tasting room includes a walk through the barrel room as well as the photo gallery. Outside is a private collection of Australian parrots.
Cape Grace began in 1996 as a 15-acre vineyard. Since then, owners Robert and Karen Karri-Davies have dedicated themselves to producing exquisitely hand-crafted single-vineyard wines. Cape Grace Wines limit production to 1500 – 2200 dozen cases depending on the season.
A small winery with a rich history in the region, Cape Grace Wines is a marvellous place to experience some of the regions finest wines.
2. Mongrel Creek Vineyard and Wine

Named for the occasionally raging Mongrel Creek that runs nearby, this boutique winery is one of the finest in the Margaret River region. Creating wines that are exceptional and affordable is the goal at Mongrel Creek.
Visitors are delighted by rustic surroundings and generous tastings, as well as the warm welcome, historic photos, and fascinating tales of long ago.
3. Woodlands Wines

Open every day except Christmas Day, and Good Friday from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The kitchen closes at 4:00 PM, and the last tasting of the day is at 4:15 pm.
The Cellar Door at Woodlands Wines offers a unique tasting experience complimented with the chef’s selection of small plates. Guests may also book a picnic to enjoy on the immaculate grounds. Picnic hampers include local produce, the chef’s unique selection of cheeses and salami, two bottles of wine and outdoor glasses.
Woodlands Wines is one of the first five vineyards planted in the Margaret River region. David and Heather Watson established the vineyard in 1973. The couple hoped to create wines similar to those from Bordeaux vineyards.
Woodlands Wines is still owned and operated by the Watson family. Although, second-generation winemakers are helping to guide the business.
4. Whicher Ridge

Visitors are welcome Thursday – Monday from 11:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Bookings are suggested for tastings hosted by winemaker and part-owner Cathy Howard. Picnic hampers can be pre-ordered and are full of local delights. Visitors are welcome to bring their picnics to enjoy on the grounds, and dogs on leashes are also welcome.
Visitors also enjoy visiting the Whicher Ridge Wine Sensory Garden, where senses are immersed in flavours, fragrances, and sights involved in winemaking.
For a one-of-a-kind wine tasting experience, enjoy a trek into one of the wine country’s most isolated areas. It is here ancient soils sustain carefully selected vines. At Whicher Ridge, Neil and Cathy Howard operate this unique winery and vineyard. With over 50 years of combined experience as a vigneron and winemaker couple, the Howards take a hands-on approach to their craft.
5. House of Cards

Visitors are welcome seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day & Good Friday. Aside from their excellent winetasting that also offers a grand selection of local offerings, House of Cards now has luxury chalets available to rent.
These are perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends who want to extend their wonderful experience. A 100 per cent organic single vineyard winery, House of Cards got its name by considering what a gamble winemakers take when they put everything on the line to plant vineyards and create wine. Travis and Elizabeth Wray own and operate House of Cards and are often seen with their three sons and the family dogs.

Wills Domain is open Mon – Thu 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Fri – Sun 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If you’re looking for a winery that produces wines that are great to give as gifts then Wills Domain is the place for you. They produce wines that are easy to share with other people while also being delicious! Their wines are fun and perfect if you have anyone in your household who doesn’t drink wine often.
7. Leeuwin Estate

The Leeuwin Estate Restaurant is open daily for lunch reservations. Two menus are available for diners’ enjoyment.

The Art gallery is open daily from 10:00 am- 5:00 pm. Visitors can also book helicopter flights or opt for a charter plane flight to the Leeuwin Estate. This family-owned estate is one of the five founding wineries in the Margaret River wine region. Because of the family’s commitment to excellence, Leeuwin Estate wines have received numerous national and international accolades during their 49 years of operation.

Visits and private wine tastings are available by appointment Monday through Saturday between 9:00 am-5:00 pm at the cost of $80.00. The amount can be used against a wine purchase on the same day.
Moss Wood is one of the Margaret River region’s founding estates, planted in 1969. Since its beginning, Moss Wood has established itself as a name that is synonymous with exceptional wines made from grapes grown and tended sustainably and responsibly.
Visitors to Moss Wood winery enjoy private tours and wine tastings by appointment. This is a relaxed way to take in all Moss Wood can offer wine enthusiasts as well as visitors who enjoy viewing the breathtaking scenery of the Margaret River wine region.
Customers notice that Moss Wood wines use a screwcap rather than a natural cork or synthetic cork closure. The screwcap is preferable as wines are not subject to cork taint or rapid aging due to corks not sealing correctly.

Cullen Wines opened in 1971 and is presently celebrating 50 years in the business. To date, the winery is the only biodynamic and carbon positive winery in the region.
